~ [Handbill. Paris, mid to late eighteenth century].

Letterpress handbill (190 × 230 mm) with ornamental typographical border. Mounted and bound in a recent cork-paper covered boards.

A rare (probably otherwise unrecorded) handbill for an artisan cork maker in the rue de la Huchette, Paris. Monsieur Liégard, doing business in Liége, in Spain, Portugal and elsewhere, offers corks of all sorts and all forms of fittings for the outirage or ‘racking’ of wine (transfer technique carried out to eliminate the lees and other particles that have settled at the bottom of a cask). From the oenological collection of Bernard Chwarz, bound in appropriate folding boards of natural cork paper.
