First edition of this collection, one of 150 (after 50 copies with coloured plates). ‘Lettre à la Présidente’ recounting Gautier’s sexual exploits in Italy was addressed to Madame Sabatier, hostess of a literary salon frequented by Gautier. It had been first published clandestinely in 1890. Here it is presented with other obscene fragments, including hitherto unpublished verse, with the celebrated sequence of erotic plates by Van Maele.
