First and only edition of an exceptionally rare novel. Not a translation, but with long episodes set in London and in Constantinople, occasioning cross-cultural comparisons between English, Turkish and French mores. A rather improbable love story full of incident, Voila comme on aime recounts the elopement of two young lovers escaping tightly-constrained family circumstances. In London the pair make a living when they find the heroine (Sophie) proves talented as a society portrait painter. Gay IV, 1368. Worldcat lists a sole copy (Halle).
