First edition of this rare comic and satirical novel, partly set in England in the years of the French Revolutionary Wars, culminating in the fall of Bonaparte. It was later disowned (along with no less than 12 other novels) by its prolific author, who is best known as the author of the Mystères du Palais-Royal (1845-6). Gay I, 879.
