First edition. A novel by Sibylle Riqueto de Mirabeau, a French writer and descendant of Octave Mirabeau, she described herself as ‘the last of the Mirabeaus’. Her work consisted of humorous sketches which condemned her own fashionable society and the French political class. She first began writing short articles in La Vie Parisienne, 1877, but starting in 1880 she began to writer her own novels under the pseudonym ‘Gyp’.
