First edition, rare, of what was to become a hugely popular pocket guide to heraldry and the peerage. According to ESTC at least fifteen eighteenth-century editions followed, plus Scottish and Irish versions, all under the supervision of Nichols himself. ESTC lists three copies only: Rylands, Michigan State and NYPL.
