Lorrain wrote this work, creating the memorable character of Monsieur de Bougrelon, a most unpleasant decadent dandy, after an unsuccessful sojourn in the city of Amsterdam with Octave Uzanne. It was first published in 1897. One of 1000 copies. Not in Carteret.
