In four books of blank verse Somerville conveys the excitement and dangers of the hunt as well as its place in history. First published as The Chace in 1735 and frequently reprinted, this rare little edition is one of publisher Wenman’s ‘Cheap editions of the most celebrated works in the English language’, of which 38 further titles are listed in the advert leaf Not in Jackson.
