First British edition, scarce, first published as Hesperi-neso-graphia in Dublin in 1724 (Foxon H162), in which the poet ‘paints Ireland in the wildest colours’ (Aubin). ‘The design of this poem is to ridicule the manners of the country-people of Ireland.
