First complete edition, significantly expanded from the 1786 edition which, as the author notes here, ‘broke off so abruptly’ (p. vi). The dramatic plates are by Philip James de Loutherberg, Garrick’s renowned set designer at Drury Lane. Jackson, p. 226.
