First edition of the first publication of a poet and clergyman who achieved greater fame as a pioneer of the Industrial Revolution with his invention of the power loom, patented in 1785. Armine and Elvira, was exceptionally popular, going rapidly through a series of editions and finding praise from Walter Scott, along with all the important contemporary reviews. Jackson, p. 6.
