COTTIN, [Sophie Ristaud.] Mathilde, ou Mémoires tirés de l’histoire des croisades.  London: Peltier,  1805.
6 vols. in 3, 12mo (172 × 95 mm), pp. 244; 264; 260; 272; 248; 238, complete with half-titles. Contemporary diced half russia, spines ruled and lettered in gilt. Slightly rubbed, traces of old paper labels to spines. Later armorial bookplates (Tervoe). A very good copy.
First British edition, published in the same year as the French, of Madame Cottin’s final novel, a tale set in the Crusadses. She died in 1807 at the age of 37. The 6 volumes, each with the Peltier imprint, have the distinction of each being printed by a different London printer: P. Da Ponte, W. Marchant, C. Spilsbury, C. and R. Baldwin, J. Brettell, and J.B.G. Vogel respectively.
