8vo (164 × 95 mm.), pp. [ii], xliii, [iii], 536, [2] (errata). Woodcut head- and tailpieces. Contemporary mottled calf, panelled spine with 5 raised bands, gilt, red morocco label, red edges. Joints slightly rubbed, head of spine chipped with minor loss, one corner with very minor wear. A very nice copy, if not a very nice subject.
First edition of this Parisian physician’s first book, a treatise on the causes of flatulence. It was translated into French in an edition of 1754.
