First edition. Étienne Dumont's recensions of Bentham's writings were instrumental in establishing Bentham's international reputation, allowing him to reach a wider audience, but perhaps more importantly, presenting his ideas in a simplified and highly readable manner. Originally published in French, as with this title on judicial organisation, the recensions were variously translated into Spanish and later also into English, selling tens of thousands of copies in Europe and Latin America.
