Ownership name in an early hand to inside front covers. Original blue boards, manuscript library catalogue numbers in black ink to labels on spine. Lower board, pp. 443-6 and final pages of volume two slightly damp-stained. An excellent copy, totally unsophisticated.
First German edition of Charnock’s biography of Nelson, very well preserved in its original binding. First published in English in 1806, the work is notable for Charnock's use of Nelson's original letters and first-hand accounts of his life. The fine engraved plates appear to have been specifically prepared for this German edition.
