[FENN, Ellenor]. [Mrs.] LOVECHILD. First lessons in English grammar with questions and exercises adapted to the capacities of young children. Paris: Truchy’s French and English Library, 1836.
Oblong 12mo (85 × 135 mm), pp. 100. Cloth backed printed boards with title and text printed in blue. Boards with some soiling and trace of damp staining, still a good copy.
Presumably, this is a later edition of The Child’s Grammar (1798), though our title is not listed in Carol Percy’s bibliography of Ellenor Fenn’s works. Many of Fenn’s works published under the psuedonyms of “Mrs Teachwell”and “Mrs Lovechild” were directed towards young girls and women. She wrote an entire series entitled “Mrs. Teachwell’s Library for Young Ladies” and most of these works focus on how to teach and outline Fenn’s idea of proper reading materials for the young.
