(FABLES). PHAEDRUS, Caius Julius and Jean de La Fontaine. Fables de Phedre, avec la contruction du texte et de la version interlinéaire, auxquelles on a joint les fables que La Fontaine a imitées de cet auteur.  Lyon: les Frères Perisse,  1790.
12mo (180 × 104 mm.), pp. [ii], xii, 182 includes half-title. Attractive woodcut ornament to title, woodcut headpiece, other ornaments. Slight dampstain to extreme upper forecorner of first five leaves with just a trace of old mould staining. Uncut in original drab wrappers, old label lettered in manuscript, waterstain to upper cover. A very good copy of a work printed on very strong paper, internally very crisp and fresh.
A nice Lyon-printed interlinear Latin/French fable book, presumably intended for the use of young students of Latin. Several fables of La Fontaine are appended at the end.
A search of KVK and CCFr finds copies at Edinburgh and Lyon only. The former is apparently without half-title but records 2 leaves after the preliminary matter. These are not present in the Lyon copy nor ours, which bears the correct catchwords linking the existing sections and appears complete as issued. OCLC adds copies at Waseda University, Japan and Princeton, not in RLG.
