The German version is taken from the English translation by H. Lhoyd, edited by David Powel, first printed in 1584 and later augmented by William Wynne. The German translation is by Philipp Georg Huebner and is dedicated to Anton Ulrich, Duke of Saxony. Sabin notes of the first English edition that “a special interest in this work for the American collector consists in its relation of the most ancient ‘Voyage and Discovery of the West Indies, performed by Madoc, the sonne of Owen Guined, prince of North Wales, anno 1170’” (Sabin 40914). This episode is found also in the German edition.
