First edition in this elaborate illuminated form, supervised by Francis Meynell one of 500 copies on velin for Fern L. Bedaux of New York. The tale of the philosopher and bibliophile, Maître Espapidour, and the rats which consume him. A medievalist jeu d’esprit, the publication coincidds with the Bedauxs’ purchase of the medieval Château de Condé (where they hosted the wedding of the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson ten years later.
