Initial leaves with slight staining/offset from leather turn-ins of binding, occasional very light browning. Contemporary half sheep, spines with orange calf labels, lettered in gilt, small circular numbering pieces (most now wanting, the others chipped). Rubbed, joints tender (cracked in second work) but secure, heads of spines chipped with some loss. Engraved Hope family armorial bookplates. Unsophisticated copies.
First editions of a very extensive German-Dictionary with detailed definitions of a large range of technical, popular and slang words. Little is known of the career of Johann Ebers (1742-1818) save that he was a professor Professor at Halle.
