A rare Marseille-printed pamphlet announcing the arrival of the recently-abdicated French King at Porstmouth. The ex-King's party, consisting of two American ships (flying American colours) and several French vessels anchored at Spithead and made it known that Charles was aboard. Sir Colin Campbell boarded and several French emmissaries were landed to prepare the way for Charles' arrival on British soil. Charles had abdicated on 30 July 1830 (an event known as the July Revolution) at Rambouillet in favour of his cousin, the Comte de Chambord, and left for England. The text is an extract from the Constitutionnél of 21 August 1830.
