anti-slavery pamphlet

WHITELEY, Henry.

Three months in Jamaica, in 1832: comprising a residence of seven weeks on a sugar plantation.
London: [Samuel Bagster for], Hatchard and Son,  1833.
8vo (215 × 136 mm.), pp. [ii], 24, [2]. Stab stitched and unbound as issued. Covers soiled and frayed, two transverse splits from spine (c. 20 mm. each). A fair copy only.
First edition, first issue. A scarce and influential anti-slavery pamphlet. Whiteley shocked his readers with graphic accounts of the treatment of slaves in Jamaica. Two issues of 1833 are known, ours and another for the Anti-Slavery Society (also by Bagster) which is called a "verbatim reprint" of our Hatchard issue.
